It’s almost Halloween! Where on earth has the year gone?! I must say, Autumn is by far my favourite time of year when it comes to baking cakes. The fruits, flavours and spices are so wonderful and warming, my kitchen smells like heaven at the moment!
My bank balance has taken a bit of a knock but I have some exciting things to show for it. I finally bought myself a Kitchenaid and I love it so much, it felt like Christmas day when it arrived! I’ve also been sourcing some new ingredients such as vanilla bean paste from Little Pod, a wonderful company based in Cornwall who responsibly source all of their ingredients. I also joined the many bakers who use Callebaut Belgian chocolate and had a fun day “taste testing” my new supply… it’s going to be tough having so much chocolate in the house!
In the spirit of the season, I have planned six Autumn cakes for the upcoming Real Food market in my local town of Ilkley. I’m super excited to be selling at my first market stall, it’s been a dream of mine for years now and I can’t wait to share my love of baking with the lovely people of West Yorkshire! The flavours I have chosen are unconventional and offer something a little different to your usual sponge and bundt cake.
Today I’m sharing with you the first of six bakes; pumpkin bundt cakes with maple cinnamon buttercream and cinnamon streusel topping. I’ve never baked with pumpkin before and was a little apprehensive, however the savoury sponge balances perfectly with the sweet, spiced buttercream creating a cake that is indulgent, warming and utterly delicious I can’t wait for you to try one.
Keep an eye out over the next week for the rest of the five bakes that will appear at the Ilkley Real Food market stall. Don’t forget to come along on the 5th November and try the cakes for yourselves.
If you can’t make the market on the 5th November or fancy purchasing a box of bundt cakes for a special occasion, you can find a list of all the seasonal flavours on offer for my occasion packages here. Go on….treat yourself!
